Equity

Since its inception, the Foundation has given over 12 million dollars in grants. The Foundation's granting program identifies and supports initiatives that further an organization's mission, are replicable across the social sector and have a measurable impact. The Foundation specifically focuses the investment of Time, Equity and Product on those programs that enhance the exposure of youth to technology.

 

 

2009 Annual Grant Round - is now CLOSED.

The Foundation is executing a grant round targeted at organizations that have demonstrated a deep and consistent commitment to the 1/1/1 model. The grant round is now closed to submissions. Applications will be reviewed on the criteria listed below, please check back next year for information about the grants we will be offering. Thank you for your interest and best of luck in 2009!

Turn it Up Grants

The Turn It Up grant round is designed to support current salesforce.com nonprofit users who have innovative and replicable project proposals that will "Turn Up" their use of the application and in so doing, provide a deep, measurable benefit to the organization as well as the sector it serves. Turn It Up grants will be awarded to visionary nonprofit organizations to enable the development, customization and implementation of the salesforce.com application in response to clearly articulated needs. Successful applicants will demonstrate how enhanced use of salesforce.com technology will support and improve their ability to effect their social change mission. Project proposals must outline a realistic plan for replication to the nonprofit community.

Applicants in the Americas must meet at least one of the following criteria to be eligible for the 2009 Turn It Up grant.  You will be required to indicate which of the following criteria applies to your organization in the first section of the application.

All applicants must be existing and active users as defined by the following.

  • You must be actively using your Salesforce.com account, with a minimum of 1 user logging in to your account each week. To view your login history, log into your Salesforce.com account and click Setup (top right side of screen) > Manage Users (under Administration Setup on left side of screen) > Login History.

International applicants must be an active user, as defined above, and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Organization is based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Thailand, or
  • Organization is based in Europe, Middle East or Africa.

If your organization meets the criteria listed above, we welcome you to submit the Turn It Up application by February 27, 2009 by 5:00 p.m. PST. Applications must be complete in order to receive consideration.

Grant applications, and specifically the proposed project descriptions, will be evaluated based on the following:

  • Strength and practicability of the proposed project and implementation plan;
  • Impact the grant will have on the organization's efficacy and social mission;
  • Whether the implementation is scalable and replicable for other nonprofit organizations;
  • Intention and plan to share best practices with the nonprofit community; 
  • Willingness to communicate progress and establish an ongoing relationship with Salesforce.com Foundation;
  • Demonstration of the project's positive impact on the organization, the population served and the nonprofit community as a whole; and
  • A focus on the measurements that will be used to define success and impact.
  • Proposals solely focused on equipment purchases will not be considered.

Employee Inspired Grants

Community Action Team Grant

  • Community Action Team (CAT) grants are inspired and led by employees that are partnering with local charitable organizations to identify needs, plan activities, and participate in volunteer activities. These grants are reviewed and sponsored by the Foundation.  Nonprofits can be recipients of this grant type by engaging salesforce.com employees and reminding them to take advantage of the CAT grant incentive program.
  • Employees can access the Community Action Team grant application on the intranet.

Dollars for Doers

  • Salesforce.com employees who have volunteered a minimum of 10 hours with an organization in any given year are eligible for a grant. For every 10 hours volunteered, the Foundation will donate $100, with an annual donation cap of $500 per employee.
Matching Gifts
  • Employees donating funds to qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations are eligible for matching funds from the Foundation up to $500 per employee, per fiscal year (Oct 1- Sep 30) until the total funding pool is depleted. Submit your requests online early to take full advantage of this program.
