2007年8月23日から9月8日にかけて、セールスフォース・ドットコムの東京と大阪のオフィスでは、恒例の夏のボランティア・ウィークを実施しました。社員のボランティア合計時間は457時間。ほとんどの社員が社内外での様々な活動に参加しました。社員の力で地域社会をよりよくできるように、これからも社会貢献活動を続けていきます！

Salesforce.com Japan office (Tokyo/Osaka) have just finished a series of Volunteering Weeks. This is a special annual period for employees to actively join various kinds of volunteering events. Almost all the employees dedicated their time to make our community better and the total volunteering hours was 457!

海外清掃および子ガメ放流会 Beach Cleanup and Releasing Turtles into the Sea

週末を利用し、社員およびその家族・友人が、浜松の海岸にて清掃活動および子ガメの放流を行いました。2週に分かれて実施した当イベントの参加者は合計で36名。1時間ほど海岸の清掃をした後、Sanctuary N.P.O.の代表より自然保護および亀の習性についての話を聞きました。その後、1時間ほどかけて、子ガメを海に放流しました。セールスフォースの社員は、子ガメを参加者に配布するボランティアを行いました。
営業本部の横尾克久は、3歳の息子の薫（かおる）君を連れて参加しました。「息子にとっても私にとっても、地球にいいこととは何かを考える貴重な経験となりました。ウミガメの生態についてのレクチャーを聴くことにより、人間の生活がウミガメの生態にどのようなう悪影響を及ぼしているのかを知りました。日本中でウミガメの産卵ができるような海岸をつくっていけるように、微々たる努力をやっていきたいです。また、海岸清掃では、花火やタバコの吸殻など、明らかに海岸に遊びに来た人の散らかした形跡ばかりであることが分かりました。個々が気をつけることで改善できるものと思います。」

In the first and second Saturday in September, a total of 36 employees, family and friends went to the beach in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka prefecture for the beach cleanup and to release turtles into the sea that were initially bred in a turtle sanctuary. Following a 1-hour clean-up on the beach, there was a lecture on wildlife conservation by staff from Sanctuary N.P.O.. Finally, participants released small baby turtles into the sea, carefully making sure there were no problems. Employees helped at the event by handing turtles to each participant. Katsuhisa Yokoo, Corporate Sales joined this event with his 3-year-old son Kaoru: “It was great experience for me and my son to make the world better place.” he said. “The lecture on the ecology of sea turtles gave me an insight into how human life affects their lives. These are humble contributions that we could make use of to keep the seaside clean enough for wildlife. No cigarette butts, No waste of fireworks on the beach!”

代々木公園ガーデニングクラブ Gardening in the Yoyogi Park

代々木公園『花の小径』を活動エリアとしている代々木ガーデニングクラブの活動に、3名の社員が初めて参加しました。晴天の下、和気あいあいと花の手入れや草むしりを2時間半行いました。参加した製品本部の大野由以と小林美枝は次のように話しています。「何のためにどのような作業が必要なのかを親切に指導していただいて勉強になりました。また、緑に囲まれて、集中して体を動かすことで、普段の仕事とは異なる充実感を得ることができました。」
代々木ガーデニングクラブの活動は、毎月4日、14日、24日と4のつく日の午前中です。オフィスと近いことから、今後も人気のボランティア活動になることでしょう。

Three Employees joined a gardening activity in Yoyogi Park which is coordinated by Yoyogi Gardening Club. They spend 2 hours and a half maintaining flower garden, cutting grass to make the main paths more comfortable and heartwarming. Yui Ohno and Mie Kobayashi, Product Team, said; The staff from Yoyogi Gardening Club gave us a detailed explanation how to do for what reason, which helps us understanding the process easily. Apart from our daily work in the office, we feel so nice to do exercise for good in such a green environment!

絵本を届ける運動 Picture Books Activities

シャンティ国際ボランティア会という非営利団体は、子どもの図書がほとんど出版されていない途上国へ絵本を送る運動を行っています。日本で出版されている絵本に訳文を印刷したシールを貼って、カンボジア、ラオス、ミャンマー難民キャンプ、アフガニスタンに送るというものです。この活動に賛同し、セールスフォース・ドットコムの東京と大阪のオフィスでは毎年絵本のシール貼り活動に協力しています。社員の自主的な呼びかけであっという間に協力の輪が広がり、今回準備した300冊の絵本はたった10日で全ての作業が完了しました。
8月28日には東京オフィスにて、この「絵本を届ける運動」を担当しているシャンティ国際ボランティア会の佐藤麻弥さんが、絵本が現地でどのように使われているのかについて説明してくださいました。20名を越える社員が真摯に耳を傾けました。

Among these volunteering events, the most popular activity was the dispatching of 'Picture Books' coordinated by Shanti Volunteer Association. They send the books to developing countries (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar Refugee Camp, Afghanistan) where it is hard to publish picture books for themselves. Employees are responsible for attaching the translations to the correct pages of the book. Thanks to the spontaneous participation by employees, 300 copies of the translated books were completed only in 10 days!
On 28 August, Ms. Maya Sato from Shanti Volunteer Association held a seminar attended by over 20 employees of the Tokyo office in which she explained how the picture books were being used in the developing countries.

東京自転車グリーンマップ活動説明会 Kick-off Meeting on 'Tokyo Cycle Green Map'

今回のボランティアウィークでは、環境について考える機会もありました。東京を自転車で移動するための「東京自転車グリーンマップ」を作成しているアーバンエコロジー東京の代表である堀内 正弘さん（多摩美術大学造形表現学部准教授）及びスタッフのみなさんより、活動の趣旨や今後の予定について話を伺いました。環境や自転車に興味のある14名の社員が出席し、気候変動の統計データや、世界各国の自転車利用の取り組みなど、多岐に渡る説明に耳を傾けました。東京の中には自転車の方がアクセスしやすいところもあり、このマップを片手に東京の素敵な名所を訪れようという！というこの活動の背景には、無駄な車の使用を減らせば植林するよりも効果的に省エネができるというメッセージがあります。楽しみながら環境に優しい生活をしようというアーバンエコロジー東京のみなさんの考え方に一同が賛同しました。今後、セールスフォースの社員は、このマップ作成にボランティアとして関わっていく予定です！

This year's volunteering weeks offered an opportunity to think green! There was a kick-off meeting by Urban Ecology Tokyo, which publishes 'Tokyo Cycle Green Map' , unique and easy to read maps for cyclists to travel in central Tokyo. Mr. Masahiro Horiuchi, representative of the organization and his staff gave us interesting inputs on their activities and future plans. 14 employees who are interested in environmental issues listened to their presentation on the serious climate change, the key icons of the Map, cases of the active use of bicycles all around the world. Behind the message was that riding bicycles with the Map gives us a better way to access to places of interest in Tokyo', there is a strong message that we can save our energy more efficiently by reducing the use of cars. Participants were all agreed that they are happy to supporting this activitiy by using their idea and power in the near future!

BOOK MAGIC - Used Books/CDs/DVDs Recycling

自宅やオフィスに眠っている本、CD、DVDをブックオフコーポレーション株式会社に送ると、その買取額がJENのアフガニスタンとパキスタンでの教育支援事業「スクールサポートプログラム」に役立てられるという活動に参加しました。集まった書籍等は段ボール3箱分になりました。

Employees participated in a recycling program jointly organized by a humanitarian nonprofit JEN and used bookshop Bookoff Corp.. By sending three boxes of used books/CDs/DVDs/videos to Bookoff, the total sales are to be donated to an educational program in Afghanistan and Pakistan by JEN.

日本民際交流センターカメラ寄付 Camera Donation for Minsai Center Japan

社員より集まった計5台のカメラ（デジタルカメラ／フィルム式カメラ）を、日本民際交流センターに寄付しました。ラオスとカンボジア事務所にて、ドナー送付用の奨学生の写真撮影に活用されます。

Five compact cameras were kindly donated by employees to humanitarian NGO, Minsai Centre Japan. These are to be used at their office in Laos and Cambodia for taking photos of grantee for donors.

子供地球基金 Volunteering at Kids Earth Fund

3回のボランティア活動に7名の社員が参加しました。子ども向けワークショップの運営を手伝ったり、クリスマスカードの封詰め作業を行いました。
