Project Night Night in San Francisco

CA, USA -April 24, 2008

by Amy Kellerman

Our Professional Services team event with Project Night Night was just what the doctor ordered. First of all our team had not done a Volunteer Community event together for quite some time so we really needed a rewarding and fun experience to get back into the swing of things. Second, and on a more personal note, Project Night Night struck a particular cord with me as an expectant mother. Project Night Night is dedicated to helping homeless children who are living in shelters to have a more comfortable overnight experience by donating packages that typically contain a book, a blanket, and a stuffed animal.

Project Night Night's Executive Director, Kendra, welcomed us into her home to help put together these packages and get them ready to ship out to shelters in need. Kendra helped us understand the staggering numbers of homeless children, the lack of family shelters available, and the lack of specific resources for homeless children. Spending our afternoon helping Kendra and project Night Night was eye opening and rewarding at the same time. We had the chance to help an incredibly worthy cause, see a side of homelessness that is not always discussed, and put our own lives and material possessions into perspective.
