Toronto Employees Build Home with Habitat for Humanity

June 18, 2008 Toronto, Canada Twenty volunteers from Salesforce.com arrived bright and early last Wednesday morning to build a home with Habitat for Humanity. Many of us were surprised by the size of the project. The 4200 Kingston site is a twenty-unit undertaking that promises to make a real difference in the community. The homes are in all different stages of completion ranging from bare frames to furnished and occupied. After suiting up in construction gear we were efficiently separated into four groups. One group painted, one installed trim, another hung drywall and the last was challenged with hauling drywall into position. Everyone was tired and dirty by the end of the day and it was great to see the results of our efforts. I'd really recommend volunteering with this organization to anyone interested in contributing tangibly to a good cause. As one employee enthusiastically put it, "It was a refreshing experience. I find myself back in the office feeling refreshed after one day away doing something different. I almost feel like this provided more value to me than the family we were helping out. Talk about win-win."
