May 14th proved to be a beautiful day for our Recruiting Programs and Tech Team to make a difference in the Presidio. After trading in our recruitment hats to become Park Stewards, each of us got to work enhancing the native plant habitat. We joined arms with the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy to assist in restoring the plant and wildlife environment near Crissy Field. Invasive plant removal ranked high as one of the most enjoyable activities of the visit. You have to experience the joy of removing the fast growing (and very large) California Wild Radish plant to truly understand how gratifying this activity can be!! With an incredible view of the Golden Gate Bridge as a backdrop, weeding and watering became our top priorities. Not a moment passed without gaining knowledge about the land we were helping to preserve. After a great day of restoration in the sun, each member of our team felt a stronger connection to this amazing part of our city and a desire to ensure others take note of ways in which we can work together to maintain the natural environment and ecosystems of San Francisco's Presidio.
