A team of salesforce volunteers finished their off-site meeting and headed out for the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. Despite the lack of satellite navigation, they managed to find the spot where litter had collected in such amounts. However, the small efforts of every person added up to a big difference. The challenge was steep and despite only being 5 in number, the guys were determined to make an impact!
All that was needed was a dry day that would allow the team to get into the stream and begin the job of removing the things that other people had left behind.........This luxury was not going to be afforded!
Whilst we accept that we live in a rainy Irish climate, it would be difficult to accept that the good work that was about to be done, should have to face the rain that fell. The sides of the torrent were cleaned; however, the stream had such a current that standing in it made life a little risky! Full marks to Stephen Grace for braving the current and catching rubbish as it swept by. The admirable efforts of Jo Cassey, Paraic Kennedy & Darren McAlear helped to clean larges sections of the embankment, and apart from a few mud slips and the odd stinging nettle, the only unbeatable challenge was the rain.
The team were wet before they started, got suitably drenched and shivered throughout. Their efforts have made a part of Dublin a little more pleasant to look at, whilst capturing rubbish that can enter the recycling chain.
