Baykids MovieMakers Bedside Editing (San Francisco, CA) $5,000
BayKids has been recognized by Children's Hospital and UCSF for their extraordinary MovieMakers program. They have accomplished this success through their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to improving children's lives through creative self expression. This grant was to provide Ibooks for the BayKids MovieMakers program.
CISCO Israel - Teaching CNAP to high school students from Rural Areas (Nazareth, Israel) $5,000
This grant is to provide scholarships for girls and boys who cannot afford studying CNAP (Cisco Netwroking Program) otherwise. These kids come from different social groups in Israel that do not usually mix, nor meet and have different beliefs and prejudices about each other. We would like to enable them to come together and learn together, and learn about each other, and learn technology skills.
This grant was awarded to train low-income youth and families in camera use and interviewing, and give them the tools, resources and support to make a short film telling their stories dealing with the California Youth Authority (CYA) and the state's juvenile justice system.
Friends of The Future -Just Think Mobile (Kamuela, Hawaii) $3,000
A mobile technology center in a rennovated school bus. Travels all over the island leading multi-media based classes with students. Focus on video production.
I Have A Dream Foundation -The IHAD Dream Team Media Project (Oakland, CA) $3,000
“I Have a Dream” Foundation-Oakland (IHAD) organized “The IHAD Dream Team Media Project.” Through this program students learned how to use multimedia resources (video, e-mail, web design, etc) to produce news, information, and entertainment for other youth, while providing awareness information to help youth make good choices about their futures. This project provided youth with stories of interest and provided them with awareness about alternatives to participating in at-risk behavior like drug use and violence.
Just Think Foundation - Media Mobile Peer Workships (San Francisco, CA)$5,000
The Media Mobile Peer Workshops are a series of direct media literacy and production workshops to be delivered during the 2003-04 school year via the Just Think Media Mobile. Both in-class and after school programs will be targeted, primarily in underserved communities. The goal of these workshops will be to conduct peer-to-peer trainings in a safe and productive environment. St. John's Educational Thresholds - Urban Institute Video Arts Program (San Francisco, CA) $5,000
The Urban Institute at St. John's Educational Thresholds Center wishes to implement a video component into their youth leadership and arts programs for San Francisco youth to make a larger community impact through youth projects and campaigns. Access to resources, technology and training can provide youth with the means to influence change and educate others. UI youth want to be advocates for their peers/community and make an impact on current issues through video projects and presentations.
Trips for Kids - Re-Cyclery Computer Program and Mountain Bike Rides Program (San Rafael, CA) $2,052
Our popular mountain bike outings program is unique to the Bay Area and the computer program increases the skill-building opportunities available to youth at our unusual Re-Cyclery workshop. Both programs promote social change by providing enriching experiences and exploration of the world around them.
Youth Venture - Youth Venture, Inc. (Arlington, VA) $2,000
Youth Venture supports all young people between the ages of 12-20 who have innovate ideas to make their community a better place. Approximately 70% of our youth are poor or minority students, but any group of young people can apply to the program.
