The PRM Salesforce.com Legends Walk 100km and Smash Their Fundraising Target for Oxfam

Finish Line
Salesforce.com Employees, Jeff  Chalis, Melanie Nightingale, Carl Vescovi and Troy Westly put their walking shoes on (and endured many a blister) for the Oxfam WALKER Melbourne.

March 27 & 28, 2009 Melbourne, Australia

PRM Salesforce.com Legends Setting off… We can report that all four in the team did in fact make it to the end. We are all very excited about our personal walking achievement and the funds raised for Oxfam.

Having today achieved the $10,000 fundraising mark for Oxfam Trailwalker it is a perfect opportunity to again thank all of you that helped us to not only achieve but SMASH our original fundraising target, and provided so much support and encouragement in the buildup to and along the journey. A few facts about how it all panned out –

  • 714 teams of 4 people participated in the event

  • Of the 714 teams, only 60% finished the 100km journey as a complete team of four (that’s 285 teams that didn’t finish together)

  • 85% of walkers made it to the finish line, so 428 people didn’t make it   over the line at all

  • Our team is in the top 20 highest fundraisers

PRM Salesforce.com Legends finished as a team, held together by a combination of protective tape,  laughs, an awesome support crew, massage, and occasional excesses of sugar and caffeine. Throughout the days we received many messages of support that only encouraged us to keep trying when the bodies were suggesting otherwise. At 7:30 Saturday night we finally crossed the finish line, having been at it since 7am the previous morning.
