Over 49 volunteers participated in the Rebuilding Together Project at Miraloma Elementary, Mitch Shaw tells us about the day.
Over 30 salesforce.com employees and 19 Mirloma Elementary School staff and parents participated in a volunteer event in conjunction with Rebuilding Together to help rejuvenate the Miraloma Public Elementary School in San Francisco. This is the 4th year in a row that Salesforce.com participated in Rebuilding Together's annual Rebuilding Weekend during which thousands of volunteers across the city renovate homes and facilities for those in need.
Miraloma Elementary School is a shining example of how the participation of parents coupled with ongoing community involvement have drastically improved the school over the last several years and made it one of the more sought after schools in the city. On Saturday, we took on a number of projects that the school's parents had accumulated and our accomplishments included:
- Painting Cubbies/Cabinets in 14 Classrooms.
- Painting the Teachers Lounge (Rebuilding Together also provided electrical work & donated a new stove)
- Built 4 Cubby Benches to create a new Reading Nook for their after school program
- Provided new book cases for their main after school reading area
- Provided new area rung for the kids to sit on while they read
- Installed 40 feet of Curtain Rods and Curtains for the Cafeteria
- Made numerous repairs and other improvements.
I for one was proud to lead a team of such dedicated salesforce.com volunteers all of whom showed up bright and early on Saturday morning raring to go, and many of those who attended have become regulars on Rebuilding Weekend. I can't wait for another one next year!
