Volunteer Grants and Annual Events

Volunteering time gives people a sense of great satisfaction. For those who go above and beyond the minimum, there are other rewards as well. The Foundation provides funding to organizations our volunteers are particularly passionate about in the following ways:

  • Dollars for Doers Grants: Any full time salesforce.com employee who has volunteered a minimum of 10 hours in any given year with an organization is eligible to apply for a grant to help that non-profit in its work. For every 10 hours volunteered, the Foundation will donate up to $500 (or 50 hours).
  • Community Action Team Grants: Community Action Teams (CAT) are foundation-sponsored and employee-led groups that partner with local charitable organizations to identify needs, plan, and participate in volunteer activities. The minimum requirement is four employees and 25 volunteer hours. These grants range from $1,000-$7,500 depending on the size of the project and its impact.

Large-scale events include the Dreamforce Community Project and Global Holiday Spirit Weeks.

Dreamforce is salesforce.com’s annual User Conference, during which the company invites conference attendees, employees, customers, partners, and members of the community to participate in a local San Francisco-based charitable event. In 2005, Dreamforce volunteers—in conjunction with Rebuilding Together SF—helped renovate the Vincent Hotel, a transitional home for low-income San Franciscans shifting out of homelessness. This year, the Salesforce Foundation will be partnering with Kaboom (www.kaboom.org) to engage conference attendees in building a playground in a single day.

Global Holiday Spirits Weeks is specially set aside for holiday volunteer activities during the month of December. This past year, employees from all over the world donated more than 2,000 hours during the month of December, to celebrate the holiday season with their communities. Projects ranged from serving meals, making gingerbread houses with children, sorting toys, organizing trips to science museums and skating rinks, purchasing and wrapping gifts for the needy and much more.
