BizAcademy Reflection

Gul Gi participated in the 2009 Toronto BizAcademy.  She shares her experience with the program and how it provided her the chance to see what she is able to achieve.

My name is Gul and I am currently a high school student in Toronto.  I participated in the BizAcademy program in its third year since its arrival in Toronto, and I have to say that this has been one of the unforgettable experiences I’ve ever had in my life.  Not only was I able to develop many skills such as leadership, interpersonal, and, most importantly, presentation skills, but I also made some close friendships that will last for a lifetime.

As a student, my career goals are not faced towards the field of marketing.  I have always wanted to pursue a career in finance.  However, BizAcademy gave me the chance to understand the close relationship between these two subjects.  I believe that the knowledge I’ve gained throughout the program, such as the importance of a good presentation, the dining etiquette, or the many other interesting facts that I’ve learned about workplace will assist me throughout my life regardless of what I will be pursuing as a career.

This wonderful program has given me a chance to work with and get mentored by many professionals who have the valuable knowledge and experience.  It has given me a chance to meet wonderful people who strive to achieve their goals and make a difference.  It has given me the chance to work with Christie Ossington of Neighbourhood Centre and understand their programs and incentives in depth. But most importantly, it has given me the chance to see what I am able to achieve.

And as if all this wasn’t enough, I was nominated as the Entrepreneur of the Week and our company had won first place for the overall marketing plan.  What more could I have asked for?

So thank you Salesforce.com!
