BizAcademy Reflection
Adik Rafeah participated in the 2009 Toronto BizAcademy. She shares her experience with the program and how she is applying the knowledge she gained to her everyday life.
Wow! I have lots of stuff to tell about my experience in BizAcademy. It was the best entrepreneur workshop ever. This workshop has its own unique and interesting way of teaching us all about entrepreneur in just 5 DAYS!!! With my new knowledge, I’ve helped my aunt to set up a small business and she did pretty well. I’ve also advised to my brother how to pitch or convince the sponsors to help him in his business.
Throughout my journey with BizAcademy, I’ve really learned a lot about entrepreneurship. I had lots of fun and for the first time, I can apply the knowledge that I gained from the course, in my everyday life. BizAcademy has opened up my eyes to the vision that setting up a business is quite easy and fun.
The staff and interns who participated in this workshop were very helpful and fun.
One of the best moments I experienced was the networking session. Being a typical shy girl, it helped me to interact more with others with confidence and it sure helps to improve my communication skills. I used to work as a waitress at Haagen Dazs, and I’ve used some of the skills from the workshop to sell our products to the customers. It really works!
I can still remember how my teammates and I worked together to set up our own mini business. We had to rush to produce our products and we were lucky to received help from the volunteers from Salesforce.com. All the hard work paid off, we made a profit from our business!
Even though I didn’t set up my own business, I’m still using the skills that I’ve gained from this workshop to benefit me now and in the future. If there’s another workshop like this I will not hesitate to join again.
