今年の春から新ボランティア活動がスタートしました。セカンドハーベスト ジャパンのオフィスでの炊き出し準備です。土曜日に開催される炊き出しに向けて、前日である金曜に野菜を切ったり配給食物の準備をします。

セカンドハーベストとは、「2度目の収穫」という意味です。マーケットで使われることがなかった安全な食品を必要としている方々に届けています。セカンドハーベストによると、2000年の活動開始以来、食品を提供してくれる企業や農家・個人の数が増え、食品を有効に使ってくれる福祉団体・施設の数も順調に増えてきたそうです。現在では、40社を超える企業から定期的に食品の提供を受け、同時に関東を中心とした全国160以上の福祉施設に食品の提供を行うまでになっています。

このセカンドハーベストの活動を個人的に支持していたRevenue Opsの金山佳美は、この活動を社内に広げ、ファンデーションのプログラムに発展させました。
「土曜日の上野公園での炊き出しはより活気があり、金曜日に行う炊き出し準備の大切さや必要性が実感できます。金曜日のみならず、土曜日にも参加することをお勧めします。温かいスープや新鮮なフルーツを使ったデザートもあり、メニューの多さに驚きます！」

New volunteering program has started this spring.  We help the Second Harvest Japan at their office on Fridays preparing for soup-run for the next day, such as cutting vegetables and organizing food supplies.

The Second Harvest Japan distributes safe surplus food to people in need. Since it was founded in 2000, the number of surplus food providers has been increasing, as well as welfare organizations taking advantage of it. Now more than 40 providers regularly donate surplus food to more than 160 welfare organizations in Kanto and other districts.

Yoshimi Kanayama, Revenue Ops, who has been supporting the Second Harvest Japan for long and developed her support into this foundation program, says: “I’d like more people to volunteer for not only preparation but also for the soup-run activity which is held in Ueno Park on Saturdays. You’ll be able to see liveliness of the activity and realize the value of the preparation. Also, it’s surprising to see the variety of menu, such as warm soup and fruit desert.”
