Tarin Benhudjiriras participated in the March 2009 Toronto BizAcademy. He shares his thoughts on the the program and his experience as a summer intern at salesforce.com.
I had a few friends that have been involved with BizAcademy in the past. They all told me about the experiences they took from the spring break week of non stop work. I was a little reluctant to sign up because it was spring break. Who would want to spend it working non stop? But the thought of a summer paid internship won me over. The week went by so fast and I probably learned more from that week then all my previous past job experiences combined.
We learned public speaking skills, how to sell ourselves and our product, on top of many other skills. During the spring break week we created a company with the agendas of fixing real life communication problems between different sectors of a company. The staff at BizAcademy are also amazing, they always seem to have to right answers and advice in many different situations. The food they provided was so good it would please the pickiest of eaters.
Aside from the skills and experiences I took from BizAcademy, I also made it out with a paid summer internship that thought me many other real life skills that would help me succeed in the corporate world. For a week of hard work and fun I received an internship, a great mentor, skills, experiences, and not to mention - a paycheck. I definitely would recommend it to anyone.
