18 August 2006, Frimley, UK: Soap Not Software, The Hooray Henrys, The Roadworks, The Soapboxers, Brakeforce Power and No Softies were the imaginative names thought up by fiercely competitive teams from salesforce.com UK taking part in the first Frimley Soapbox Derby.
Teams headed by Sue Goble, Mike Stamp, Steve Bridge, Richard Hinds, Sion Lewis and Simon O'Kane, spent weeks searching local rubbish tips (and the Internet) to find salvage for their Soapboxes. The results were spectacular and the whole Frimley office and their families turned out on a damp Friday afternoon to cheer them on.
Salesforce teams were joined by young drivers Madni, Rubena, Saydul, Edmond, Amina and members of staff from youth organization Landmark Training. Initially disappointed that the Soapboxes weren't motorised, the young people quickly realised that being pushed by determined salesforce employees was far more powerful (and potentially dangerous)!

Peter Grant took his role as Judge extremely seriously; measuring teams on the durability of their soapbox, teamwork and on how little they had spent on its construction. After four races and concourse judging, the winning team was Mike Stamp's The Soapboxers.
Prizes included a model Renault Formula 1 racing car, donated to Fran Donaghy by a local dealership, and an ipod nano donated by James Penfold.
Enormous thanks to Lucy Brown, Fran Donaghy and Mike Stamp for thinking up the idea and making it happen, to Mark Ottaway for commentating, Peter Grant for judging and Kenny Elphick for the PA.
