Jerusalem, January 2007: Gill Cohen, group leader for nonprofit Machshava Tova, has written a short report on how they are progressing with the project funded by Salesforce.com Foundation;
"We work here with new immigrants from Ethiopia, Russia, youth at risk, adults, religious people, Jews and Arabs.
"The cinema group is located in Newe Yaakov neighbourhood in north Jerusalem. I work there with teenagers that come from orthodox religious families and are out of school, some of them have drug abuse and alchohol problems, some ofthem have issues with the police, some of them were sent away fro their extremely religious homes because they are less religious.
"I work with them with cinema, trying to get them to get used to a regular framework of work and then learn, work on subjects regarding their identify and more. We worked on subjects like 'telling my story'; and how to make it in the video media, learn to use the camera and now we work also on preparing the material to edit.
"It is hard work but it's amazing. I learn a lot from them.
"The members of the second group - Computer Youth leadership in Graphic design, already offer their services to community workers and volunteers. So far they did a brochure for a children's center and for a coffee shop for youth at risk that work in the neighborhood.
"My next goal is to add to this group some new immigrant youth that will join the current youth. So far they are against adding more members because they have fun on their own but I am working on convincing them."
