Andrew shares his experience helping youth make decisions about career paths

Sydney, Australia June 2007

For anyone leaving school to enter further education or the workforce, making decisions about what vocation to pursue can be daunting to say the least. Andrew Everingham, Marketing Director for Australia and New Zealand, took time out of his busy schedule to talk to students at Epping Boys High School and Marist Colledge Eastwood in Sydney about a career in the IT&T industry.

As well as explaining the many benefits and challenges in IT, Andrew worked with the students on getting a grounded perspective on this turbulent time. The boys, aged 16-18, were asked to consider the wider issues around employment opportunities, job satisfaction, and choosing companies and industries who have a genuinely postive and proactive involvement in their communities and a focus on the environment.

Andrew reflects: "I had a great time. It was huge fun to be able to talk to these guys about something that is so important to them, but to make it enjoyable and to keep it real. I really came away with the sense that most of them got at least something to think about from this exercise. It felt great be able to make it that bit easier for them and to offer what advice I could.
