Check out the Edition Comparison for more details on the Enterprise Edition. To find out if your organization is eligible for 10 donated licenses, check out our eligibility requirements.
How do I apply for a product donation?
To apply for a donation of 10 Enterprise Edition licenses from the Salesforce.com Foundation, follow the 5-step donation process >
Is there a configuration specific to nonprofits?
Yes, "Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter Pack" is a set of packages built on top of standard salesforce.com Enterprise Edition licenses. Learn more about the Nonprofit Starter Pack.
The Nonprofit Starter Pack was created to make it possible for nonprofits to:
- Manage complex individual relationships;
- Track households with individuals; and
- Manage fundraising and donation tracking.
What is the difference between the old nonprofit template and Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter Pack?
The old nonprofit template was released in 2006 to address common core functionality traditionally found in the nonprofit rather than the commercial sector. The Salesforce.com Foundation worked with partners to create a new Nonprofit Edition (Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter Pack) which is an improved out-of-box solution for our nonprofit community. This new version does a much better job managing complex individual relationships, tracking households and managing fundraising and donation tracking.
I already have activated licenses and am interested in upgrading to the new version I heard about, Salesforce CRM plus Nonprofit Starter pack. Is this possible?
The Nonprofit Edition packages can be installed onto your existing account. We are not able to transfer your licenses no matter when you received active licenses. Salesforce.com Foundation provides community support and documentation for the Nonprofit Starter Pack. We have a number of partners who are knowledgeable about this new edition and can help you upgrade.
I have an existing account with Person Accounts activated. I would like to upgrade to the Nonprofit Starter Pack. Is this possible?
No. It is not possible to upgrade and use the Nonprofit Starter Pack if the Person Accounts functionality is active in your Salesforce.com account.
My organization is fiscally sponsored. Can we apply for the product donation?
Yes, we welcome organizations that have a fiscal sponsor. Both the fiscally sponsored organization and the fiscal sponsor are eligible for separate product donations. See our eligibility requirements.
In addition to following all steps for our product donation program, you will need to submit a signed letter of fiscal sponsorship from the organization that holds the 501c3, on their letterhead. This letter needs to explain the relationship between the entities and indicate that the fiscal sponsor is willing to accept donations on your organization's behalf. The letter should be submitted along with the donation application.
How long do the licenses last?
The licenses are donated on a 12 month term. For as long as your organization continues to be an eligible registered charitable organization, the product donation remains in existence. As long as your organization is actively using your salesforce.com account, we will automatically renew your donation each year. If your organization discontinues its use of your salesforce.com account, you will be contacted by Salesforce.com Foundation and notified that your donation will be discontinued.
Does the product donation include a support plan or training?
Standard technical support is included in your Enterprise Edition license donation. Training can be access through the Foundation at a reduced rate.
Who qualifies for the program?
Check out our eligibility requirements to determine if your organization is qualified to apply for the license donation program.
How much do the licenses cost?
For organizations that qualify, 10 Foundation Edition (Enterprise Edition+) Licenses are provided at no cost to your organization. If extra licenses are required, they can be purchased at a deep discount.
What are the hidden costs?
The donation program in no way obligates you to purchase licenses or any other services from salesforce.com or the Salesforce.com Foundation. It is important for your organization to understand that while the product donation program is at no cost to your organization, Salesforce CRM is an enterprise level application that requires some combination of time, technical skill and/or money to implement. Please see our Are You Ready for Salesforce CRM checklist for more information.
What do we do if we need help learning how to use Salesforce.com?
There are several training options: You can hire a certified partner to help you implement and learn how to use Salesforce. You can pay for training through salesforce.com or a Foundation partner. You can use the free resources provided by salesforce.com and the Foundation.
Are there companies that can help me set up Salesforce.com?
Yes. Please check out our partner page for more information.
Would it be possible to do a weekly or nightly backup to our own file server?
Yes, you can schedule a weekly backup of your data through the weekly data export service. This backup functionality is included in your Enterprise Edition product donation.
Our organization is affiliated with other registered charitable organizations. Is there any way we can get more than 10 licenses donated to one common Salesforce.com account?
Organizations that meet our eligibility requirements and apply to receive the product donation are eligible for ten licenses to be donated to one account. We cannot combine product donations from multiple organizations onto one common account. If you are interested in having more than ten licenses on one account, you can work with our account executives to learn about pricing discounts that are available.
Can Salesforce do "such and such?"
Yes. Salesforce is a highly customizable platform that can do a lot. Some things are easier to do on our platform than others. It isn't a question of "can" it do something, but more a question of "how much" time, skill or money will I need to accomplish the goal.
What will help my organization be successful with Salesforce CRM?
Recent results from a research project on successful Foundation customers show that you are more likely to be successful implementing salesforce if you: use a partner for implementation; the organization's management team actively uses salesforce; there is a named salesforce administrator and champion; and you are a technology interested or enabled organization.
